Dear Sir:
You mentioned in your column AS I SEE IT, dated Dec. 9, 2000 that the
Governor of Antique Exequiel Javier is opposed to the idea of making Semirara
Island an alternative dumpsite for Metro Manila's garbage. And Mr. Roberto
Aventajado, Presidential Adviser for Flagship Projects, is hoping the
governor will change his mind.
We, the people of Pandan, Antique in Pandan Bay is behind our governor. We
strongly and vehemently oppose the plan of Mr. Roberto Aventajado of making
Semirara Island Metro Manila's dumpsite.
Please read the articles, letters, and commentaries as attached. Please
allow us to air our sentiments regarding making Semirara Island as a dumpsite
of Metro Manila's garbage, which is remote to some but realistically near to
our town Pandan in Antique and the world famous BORACAY.
Thank you.
